Sessional Cover Teacher
AIMS
To provide peripatetic instruction to secondary students in small ensembles on a session basis covering for staff absence.
OUTCOMES
Regular work around the West Midlands region supporting a range of student abilities.
Teaching outcomes included song arranging, rehearsal & performance techniques.
CRITICAL EVALUATION
Due to the nature of cover work I was rarely able to see any projects through to their conclusion, so it could be frustrating not being able to check back for idea retention.
Close communication with their regular tutors proved the best way to be prepared & the feedback was always positive. As this approach was effective it is something I would emulate in other settings.
